Educational Dinner: New Sub-Q Prophy Option

Join us for a special Education Dinner with our partners from Novo Nordisk, focused on a new subcutaneous prophylaxis (Sub-Q prophy) treatment option for individuals living with bleeding disorders. This informative evening will provide an opportunity to learn about emerging therapies, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of how new options may fit into personal care plans.

Held the evening before our Women’s Retreat, this dinner offers a relaxed and welcoming environment to connect with others in the bleeding disorders community while receiving valuable educational information. Dinner will be provided, and hotel accommodations are included for participants.

The 1st annual Back Yard Brawl Cornhole Tournament will be held in Coraopolis, PA in
conjunction with Western PA Bleeding Disorders Foundation. This event is
specifically geared to raise awareness of bleeding disorders. Proceeds to benefit both
chapters.

Camp Winaca HemoVon

Camp Winaca HemoVon is a 5-day residential camp for children ages 7-17 who have either a bleeding disorder or a childhood cancer diagnosis. Mission: To positively impact and enrich the lives of children diagnosed with cancer or bleeding disorders by offering a camp experience, independent from their family, in a medically safe and educationally supportive environment while promoting personal growth, self-worth, self-reliance and creativity through activities and the development of personal relationships that will carry over to their daily lives and throughout their lifetime

Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk

The Walk is about YOU! It’s an awareness event- to teach people about bleeding disorders that affect YOUR loved ones. It’s a community gathering – to have fun with other people in YOUR community. It’s a fundraiser- to provide programs and services that YOU take part in.

When you walk you make a huge impact. All funds raised in West Virginia stay in West Virginia and are used for:

Programs like Camp Winaca HemoVon and the Annual Education Retreat
Emergency financial assistance for families in need
Advocacy at our state and national capitol
Research into finding cures for bleeding disorders

Spokes Men for Bleeders

Spokes Men for Bleeders is a grass roots awareness and fundraising effort started by West Virginia parents, Steve & Lisa Nick. Steve & Lisa have two sons with severe hemophilia. Years ago, Steve decided to begin a one-day, one-hundred-mile bike ride to bring awareness to West Virginians who live each day with bleeding disorders. All proceeds from his ride benefit WVNBDF. In turn, Steve & Lisa partner with WVNBDF and sponsors to throw a finish line party for the riders and community members.
