10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of SPOKESMEN!!!
Created in 2015 by Steve & Lisa Nick, Spokes Men for Bleeders raises awareness for bleeding disorders & funds to help the WV National Hemophilia Foundation. The day begins with Steve and his teammates doing a 100-mile bike ride along the WO&D Trail ending in Harpers Ferry, WV. As the team arrives at the finish line, they are welcomed by a cheering crowd to the finish line party planned and executed by Lisa.
During the party, community members have an educational dinner where they learn more about hemophilia, followed by a raffle and silent auction that raises money to support WVNHF’s programs and services.
The 2023 Spokes Men for Bleeders raised over $15,500 for the WV bleeding disorders community. Visit the Facebook page.
Steve & Lisa’s Story:
Steve & I have two sons that were born with Severe Hemophilia A- Factor VIII Blood Clotting Deficiency (and recently a granddaughter who was diagnosed with Hemophilia A) & we wanted to find a way to help give back to an organization that has been such a wonderful support system for us! My family felt like we were alone in our medical ordeals, but WVNHF came along & invited us to our 1st educational event where we met a whole group, or should I say, Family!
They have taught us so much & have been there for us along the way! We just wanted to find a way to spread the word for this great organization so that no other families have to feel like they are going through this alone!
